MICHAEL BOWKER

Michael Bowker is an investigative journalist specializing in narrative nonfiction. He has written 11 books and more than 1,000 magazine and newspaper articles. One of them, Playing from the Heart, has sold more than 100,000 copies. He also worked for two years as the contributing editor to the Science and Medicine Section of the Los Angeles Times, and for eight years as one of the top writers for Reader’s Digest. In 2010, Michael became executive editor of Hispanic Business Magazine. He also worked for three years as the senior speechwriter for the mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa.

MICHAEL SCHMELTZER

As writer and editor, Mike spent more than 30 years working on staff and as editor of daily newspapers in California, Washington, Oregon and Alaska, and earned regional and national awards for feature writing, sports writing, editorial writing and for his column. He was the author of Celebrating Gonzaga, published in 2012 by Sea Hill Press, and honored with a gold medal from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) as the best college or university book published in the Western U.S. and Canada that year. Michael has lectured at Gonzaga University, Humboldt State University and Eastern Washington University. He attended the University of Alaska.

ROY STEVENSON

Roy Stevenson is a professional freelance writer specializing in creative nonfiction in a wide variety of genres. These include history, culture, travel, fitness, health, communications, film festivals, classic cars, sailing, and food and wine. As a full-time freelance writer, Stevenson has had over 800 articles published. Thirty of his stories have been cover features. His work has appeared in over 250 magazines, in-flights, newspapers and e-zines around the world. With a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University, Roy Stevenson taught exercise science for over 20 years at Lake Washington Technical College.
